Matthew Weatherley-White is a pioneer in impact investing. A successful investor with more than 30 years’ experience as an investment professional, Matthew is also a recognized thought leader with a deep and abiding commitment to using the power of the capital markets to create a more inclusive, sustainable planet.

Prior to joining Align, Matthew was a founding partner of The CAPROCK Group, a multi-family office serving clients around the world. During his tenure at CAPROCK, Matthew launched the firm’s impact investing practice and was the principal architect of their market-defining impact investing platform. He also led the firm’s successful effort to become a founding B-Corporation.

Matthew began his career in finance at Smith Barney, where he became a partner in The Owyhee Group, a boutique advisory team within the company. During his 13-year tenure, he was a member of Citigroup’s elite Leadership Development Program and helped craft the firm’s Private Wealth Management platform.

Matthew graduated from Dartmouth College, has competed internationally in five different sports and continues to serve as a Director for the Lee Pesky Learning Center, an organization he helped launch 20 years ago. He is also a member of the board of advisors to CASE i3, an Initiative on Impact Investing at the Duke Fuqua School of Business, a founding Board Member of the Be Good Foundation, and serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the dZi Foundation.

Matthew currently serves on the board or as a strategic advisor to Iron Mule, an international specialty coffee roaster dedicated to disrupting the exploitative global coffee supply chain, and Drawdown Fund, a mid-stage private equity fund that deploys capital according to the climate priorities outlined in the seminal book Drawdown.

Matthew regularly serves as a guest lecturer at top business schools, keynotes global gatherings around climate change and is consistently featured in the world’s most recognized financial media.

In addition to Matthew’s responsibilities at Align, he and his family own and operate a small, sustainable guest estate on Mexico’s central Pacific coast, and he is under contract with Penguin Random House, writing a book on the future of capitalism. When not working, he can most often be found outside, running, cycling, surfing, skiing, climbing and generally sharing his irrational enthusiasm for nature with his family and friends.
