Hummayun leads Align’s investment research team. In this role, he oversees manager selection and direct investments in the impact investing space across asset classes including public markets, venture capital, private equity, private debt, real assets and blended finance opportunities.
He joined Align in 2015 as one of the first employees and has built the research team (currently at 11 professionals) and infrastructure that serves Align’s clients. Align’s research is used by asset owners and advisory firms that are transitioning their portfolios or advisory practices towards impact investing. Hummayun is also a member of the firm’s Executive Team and Investment Committee.
Originally from Pakistan, Hummayun gained work experience working in roles in marketing, business intelligence, economic consulting, financial analysis and market research in Pakistan, Singapore, and the United States. Hummayun’s multidisciplinary experience and education have allowed him to take on the dual nature of the work involved in impact investing–an assessment of socio-economic issues and the financial/business solution.
Hummayun holds a Master of Global Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a BSc (Hons) from Lahore University of Management Sciences. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder.
